About J. Suthern Hicks

J. Suthern Hicks is an award-winning author, playwright, and musician whose work blends storytelling, faith, and imagination into immersive and meaningful experiences.

After earning his degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Hicks continued his studies at Arizona State University before spending several years in Los Angeles pursuing a career in acting and writing.

During his time in L.A., his work in theater earned significant recognition, including an LA Weekly Critics' Choice Award for Turtle Tears and a Drama-Logue Award for Best Actor in a One-Man Show for Chug. His creative work has also extended into music, with songs placed in film and a catalog that has surpassed one million streams.

Today, Hicks lives in Hot Springs, Arkansas, where he continues to write, compose, and create across multiple mediums.

He is the author of the Messengers and Thieves trilogy and the Springs of Eternal Life series—stories set in the imaginative world of the Five Realms of Here. His work explores themes of faith, identity, redemption, and the unseen spiritual battles that shape our lives.

In addition to his writing, Hicks records and releases music under the name Seven Years, often collaborating with his wife, Michele, a professional violinist whose work is featured across his projects.

Inspired by faith, family, and the beauty of the natural world, Hicks has also written two beloved children's books—Charlie and Chocolate's Purrfect Prayer and Charlie and Chocolate's Furry Forgiveness, inspired by his cherished cat, Chocolate.

At the heart of Hicks' work is a deeply rooted Christian faith. After many years of study in apologetics and biblical studies, he remains committed to creating stories and music that affirm the essential truths of the Christian faith.

His work invites readers and listeners into hope, courage, prayer, and spiritual reflection.

He lives in Hot Springs with his wife, Michele, a professional violinist. Together they enjoy a peaceful, creative life surrounded by trees, turtles, music, and the company of their beloved cats—Charlie, nearly nineteen and still going strong, and Bellbeau, who was rescued from a garbage can at just two weeks old.
